Public online lecture: Dr. Marius Meinhof: "Civilized Families. Promoting and negotiating the concept of filial piety in contemporary China"

On Wednesday, April 14th 2021 (18:00 st) we would like to invite you to join the first public online lecture of the summer semester 2021. This lecture will be held by Dr. Marius Meinhof (Faculty of Sociology, Bielefeld University).

The sociologist and China expert Dr. Marius Meinhof is currently conducting a research project on discourses employed in the PR China to "civilize families" -- particularly those surrounding the Confucian norm of "filial piety" (xiao 孝). This notion is of particular importance for understanding contemporary relationships between generations. He will report preliminary findings of this project.
