As a result of the GLS workshop in September 2023, a collaboration campaign has developed between researchers from different disciplines who are all interested in the interrelationship of physical and social space and the impact on people. The idea is to coordinate different research strands on the same site and in the same timeframe.
“Super-Test-Site” Würzburg was a measurement campaign in which a multidisciplinary team collected data on environmental variables as well as on perception, stress symptoms and behaviour in urban areas. In the measurement campaign, which took place from the 10th to the 21st of June 2024, we aimed to record coordinated data in these various fields of sciences.
The team consists of researchers from our University in Würzburg, from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt, the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg and the German Aerospace Center. The team covers the fields of remote sensing, (geo)-informatics, computer science, urban planning, social geography, linguistics, digital humanities, psychology, business informatics and sports science.
Participants of the study walked through the city describing their experiences, collecting audio, image and voice data in various locations, others were equipped with eye-tracking devices to collect data. During the project data has also been collected with sensors mounted on a bicycle. You can find more information here or here.
The study was covered by the press, for example by the Bayerische Rundfunk or Tagesschau.
During the upcoming weeks we will analyse the collected data and share the findings on this website.
