Short biography
Luz Conti is full professor of Greek Philology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She has developed her academic career in Spain and Germany, focusing mainly on the study of the Ancient Greek syntax and Pragmatics.
In the last five years, her work has mainly focused on developing of linguistic strategies into expressions of (im)politeness in Ancient Greek. Specifically, she has examined the relationship between indirect speech acts and the expression of (im)politeness. During her stay in Würzburg, she will study the expressions of genericity in Ancient Greek, particularly the potential optative, which is used occasionally in generic sentences as early as in Homer.
