Neue Forschungen zu Westasien im Altertum - Vortragsreihe des Lehrstuhls
In this presentation will be first presented a glance on the archaeology of the South Caucasus from the Protohistory to the Achaemenid period while the second part will be devoted to an in-dept view on a specific moment of the Protohistory. The Middle Bronze Age is a period framed in the South Caucasus between the 3rd and 2nd millennium BCE which is known primarily through the excavation and study of funerary contexts. Despite the large amount of data collected from the excavations of the burials, in recent years the investigations of recently discovered settlements pertaining to this period had permitted a general revaluation of this period. A reassessment of the settlement pattern dynamics of the Middle Bronze Age is proposed to evaluate the archaeological sustainability of the traditional hypotheses and to propose new interpretations.
